The Polytechnic School of Chimborazo (ESPOCH), in collaboration with the Dean of Academic Development, held a training event to evaluate and strengthen the interpersonal skills of 800 teachers of the institution. Through a series of individual evaluations, the participants carried out a comprehensive diagnosis, using current methods in the field of human and professional development.
The project employed a comprehensive methodology for measuring competencies, allowing teachers to conduct a self-diagnosis of their interpersonal skills, thus facilitating a more personalized approach to the development of their capabilities. This process not only identified areas for improvement, but also provided the necessary guidelines to strengthen each competency, ensuring solid learning oriented towards professional growth.
The training process was carried out in synchronous sessions through live classes, using the Zoom platform, with interactive PowerPoint presentations, discussion groups and workbooks to deepen the contents. In addition, they were complemented with asynchronous material that included autonomous activities such as readings, research, videos, film excerpts and forums, allowing teachers to apply what they learned in a practical manner.
To ensure the effectiveness of the learning process, a 40-hour training program was designed, distributed into 20 hours of synchronous training (in 2 hours modules per competency) and 20 hours of asynchronous training, providing a comprehensive approach that favors the autonomous and collaborative development of teachers.
With this initiative, ESPOCH reinforces its commitment to educational quality and the continuous development of its faculty, ensuring that teachers are better prepared to face the pedagogical and social challenges of higher education. This training aligns with the objective of improving the quality of education and contributing to the development of professionals with socioemotional competencies and interpersonal skills essential in their educational work.
